Compassionate Doula Support for ALL: Sliding Scale Services
As your lifeline, I believe that everyone, regardless of financial situation, deserves access to the compassionate care and support they need during their pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and/or transition journey. I understand that the costs associated with doula services can be overwhelming, and that’s why I offer a sliding scale option for families who may need financial assistance.
What is a Sliding Scale?
A sliding scale means that I adjust my fees based on your financial situation. My goal is to ensure that my services remain accessible to all, especially those who may not be able to afford full-price services but still need the emotional, physical, and informational support a doula can provide.
I work with each person/family individually to determine a fair and affordable price, based on their ability to pay. Whether you're preparing for your first birth, welcoming another child, or navigating you transition, I want you to feel supported, regardless of your financial circumstances.
How Does it Work?
Families who are interested in sliding scale services can reach out to me directly. I will have an open and confidential conversation about your needs and financial situation. Together, we’ll explore what level of payment feels manageable for you while respecting the value of the care I provide. There are no hard and fast rules, but I trust in honesty and transparency to ensure fairness for both of us.
Vetting Process for Sliding Scale Eligibility
In order to fairly offer sliding scale services, I ask you to provide some basic information to assess financial need. This process is designed to be respectful and private, ensuring that those who truly need assistance can access it without feeling uncomfortable. Some questions and considerations might include:
Household Income: I may ask for an estimate of your monthly or yearly household income to understand your financial landscape.
Financial Responsibilities: Beyond income, I’ll inquire about significant financial responsibilities that may impact your ability to pay, such as medical expenses, caregiving duties, or existing debts.
Access to Other Resources: I’ll also ask whether you’re receiving or eligible for other forms of assistance, such as Medicaid, WIC, or local support programs. This helps identify families who might be under financial strain despite their income.
This vetting process is simply to ensure that I can sustainably provide support to as many families and individuals in need as possible.
Sliding Scale Tiers
I offer several sliding scale tiers, depending on your unique circumstances. This may range from partial payments to a significantly reduced fee, depending on what you are able to contribute. We’ll discuss this in detail to find a balance that honors both your needs and the value of my time and services.
No One is Turned Away
I am committed to supporting ALL through these transformative life periods, regardless of financial barriers. If you feel that you strongly need doula support but cannot afford the support costs, please reach out. I pride myself in being able to give back to my community and will waive fees entirely when necessary.
Together, we’ll create a plan that works for you, ensuring that your journey is supported, no matter your financial circumstances.
